🖥️CEA GROUP'S FACILITIES
HORIZONTAL MODULAR TUBE FURNACE (LENTON, MOD. LHC 12/750/3216 TYPE 3216CC) - High-temperature thermal treatments (up to 1000°C) under controlled atmospheres. It supports advanced research in material sciences – Referent: prof. Minero and prof. Minella
UHPLC-ORBITRAP MS (Thermo Scientific Orbitrap Exploris 120 mass spectrometer) - High-performance, compact UHPLC-HRMS/MS system designed for rapid routine analysis, offering up to 120,000 FWHM resolution, a 22 Hz scan rate, and superior mass accuracy (<3 ppm). It features fast polarity switching (1.4 Hz), high sensitivity, and an easy-to-use interface, making it ideal for food safety, environmental analysis, and metabolomics – Referent: Prof. Passananti
STEREO MICROSCOPE (Nikon SMZ745T) – Stereo microscope that features a zoom magnification of 7.5X and a long working distance of 115mm. The adoption of a new total reflection prism produces brighter images with higher contrast, and the anti-mold design allows the microscope to be used in environments where the temperature and humidity are high. The SMZ-745T trinocular model comes equipped with a microscope camera port and a built-in 0.55x c-mount adapter, permitting direct mounting of Nikon DS Series Digital Cameras – Referent: prof. Maurino
DUAL LIGHT SCATTERING PARTICLE SIZE ANALYZER (Cilas Nano DS) - breakthrough technology that makes nanoparticle characterization more accurate even with agglomerated samples or with a multi-peak size distribution. This is achieved by a combination of Static Light Scattering (SLS) and Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) measurement in one single optical system. This technology provides you with the best accuracy, repeatability and resolution over the entire 0.3 nm to 10 μm size range – Referent: Prof. Maurino
DESKTOP SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPE (Phenom-World PRO)- With a long-life high-brightness CeB6 electron source, this instrument creates state-of-the-art images with a minimum of user maintenance intervention. The backscattered-electron detector (BSED) and detection chain are optimized to work together and give results with unmatched signal-to-noise images on a large variety of samples. Referent: prof. Minero
TOC ANALYZER (Shimadzu TOC-V CSH coupled with ASI-V autosampler) – A high-sensitivity, on-line total organic carbon (TOC) analyzer utilizing 680°C catalytic combustion oxidation and NDIR detection, designed for continuous monitoring of pure to raw water. It features automatic dilution and acidified sparging for NPOC measurement ensuring reliable cleaning validation and water quality control. Thanks to the Total Nitrogen Module, a quick total nitrogen (TN) analysis based on chemiluminescence can be done both as a single measure or simultaneously with the TOC measurement– Referent: Prof. Minella
UV-VIS SPECTROPHOTOMETER (Shimadzu UV-2600i Plus) - Single monochromator system with an expandable wavelength range up to 1400 nm using an optional integrating sphere, making it adaptable for various needs – Referent: Dr. Pellegrino
AFM STM SYSTEM (Park system XE-100) - Advanced Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) designed for high-resolution, non-destructive imaging of samples up to 100 mm. It features a separated XY scanner (for sample) and Z scanner (for probe) to eliminate background curvature, providing precise nanometre-scale metrology for materials science, semiconductors, and nanotechnology research – Referent: Prof. Sordello
GCxGC-TOF MS ANALYZER (Agilent 7890B equipped with Agilent 7200 TOF analyser) – Provides a superior chromatographic resolution that greatly facilitates compound identification and structure elucidation in complex matrices – Referent: Prof. Minero
